Next up in our Careers in Insurance infographic series is a role that encompasses a variety of areas, and can play an essential role in the claims resolution process – the loss adjuster.

A loss adjuster is appointed by underwriters to deal with a claim on their behalf. When you work as a loss adjuster, you’ll investigate insurance claims by interviewing the claimant and any witnesses, consulting police and hospital records and inspecting property damage. You’ll be an impartial claims specialist, with your fees paid by the insurance companies who rely on you to check claims.

Loss adjusters are expert in many fields. They have a thorough knowledge of both insurance and the specific area in which they work and can also advise both the insurance company and policyholder on repair and replacement techniques.
