What does a financial adviser actually do? [Infographic]

We've teamed up with the LIA to offer those undertaking the Insurance Practitioner Apprenticeship the option of completing a general insurance stream or financial advice stream of the programme. In practice, the difference between the two streams are as follows:

General

• You could work in areas such as personal insurance (e.g. motor, home), health insurance or commercial insurance
• You specialise in one of the three core industry areas – claims, underwriting or direct client advice
• You’ll earn the Accredited Product Adviser (APA) and Certified Insurance Practitioner (CIP) qualifications along the way

Financial advice

• You could work in areas such as financial advice, life assurance, loans, savings & investments and pensions
• You’ll earn the Professional Diploma in Financial Advice (QFA) along the way.
