Throughout the semester, it’s easy to let your carefully thought out study plan fall to the back of your mind. Work, family and social priorities can take over, which means you could miss a couple of weeks of valuable study time.
If you’ve already read our blog post on kick-starting your study, you’ll know the best ways to get started – but how do you stay motivated throughout the whole semester?
Blended learning can be a double-edged sword - a luxury or a burden - depending on your studying habits. On one hand, it offers the flexibility to learn at your own pace, but on the other, it can be challenging to stay motivated without the guidance of a traditional classroom setting.
Ultimately, it's up to you to make wise decisions regarding your priorities, time, and resources to achieve your academic goals. Don't let external distractions like social media or binge-watching your favourite series get in the way of your success. Stay on track by following the priorities you set for yourself.
Everyone has their own unique rhythm when it comes to studying. Some prefer the early morning hours, while others thrive in the late evening. Take the time to discover which times and settings work best for you. Whether it's before work, during your lunch break, or after the little ones are tucked in, find a space where you can truly focus.
To stay focused during your study sessions, it's important to create a dedicated study space that's free from distractions like emails and social media. If you find it helpful, you could listen to some music to help you concentrate, but make sure it doesn't become a distraction. And if the weather is pleasant outside, why not switch things up and study al fresco for a refreshing change of pace?

Before diving into your study session, take a moment to set some objectives, gather your necessary materials, and devise a plan for success. For instance, challenge yourself to read a chapter and recall ten key points afterwards.
Once you've achieved your goals, reward yourself with something that truly motivates you, such as watching the next episode of your favourite show, indulging in a sweet treat, or heading out for a stroll. Whatever it takes to keep you going!
Why not mix things up by incorporating more active learning exercises into your study routine? Consider joining a group study session or giving the Quitch App a try.
Crafting study questions based on the module syllabus and using end-of-chapter learning supports and virtual libraries can help boost your engagement with the material. Don't be afraid to get creative and switch things up to keep yourself motivated throughout the semester!
