It’s therefore not surprising that the ways in which we learn online are being enhanced further, and tools and techniques are being deployed to improve our learning experience and our ability to retain information. One example of this is Quitch, one of our newest and most popular study supports. But what exactly is Quitch? Let’s break it down.

Before committing to a course, we appreciate how important it is to consider your options properly, so we asked Lisa Rowe, BA CIP, Marsh, to keep a journal of her experiences of her first seven weeks as she started her studying journey with us for The Higher Diploma in Insurance Management (MDI). Whether you are a fan or not, you would have to have been living on Mars to have not heard the buzz about the latest Game of Thrones (or GoT to its fans) prequel, House of the Dragon. The new HBO Max fantasy drama launches on August 21, 2022, so we thought we would take a llook at what the original, Game of Thrones series taught us about insurance.

Being able to read proficiently is fundamental to everything we do in life and in work – and teaching children to read and inspiring a love of it within them is hugely beneficial, not just for the potential prospects it creates for them, but for their overall well-being and sense of self.

As Local Institutes, our Council members are constantly looking for opportunities for positive change within their (and your) local community. This has always been one of their highest priorities for them. Therefore, when they recently teamed up to take part in a pilot scheme of Business in the Community’s ‘Time to Read’ initiative, in many ways the perfect alliance. We sat down with three of the first volunteers to find out more about their experiences.

Creating opportunities for positive change and giving back in meaningful ways to the local community has always been of the highest priority to The Local Institutes. Therefore, when the Institutes teamed up with Business in the Community’s ‘Time to Read’ initiative for a pilot programme, it was in many ways the perfect alliance.

For generations, traditional leaders were celebrated for using their power to take charge, make decisions, tell others what to do, and determine who needs to know what. However, many industries such as the insurance industry have reached a point where senior executives are now responsible for multiple disciplines, so this old notion of lopsided power structures is no longer fit for purpose. So what does a modern insurance leader need to be?

Change is one of life’s only certainties, and if these past few years have taught us anything, it is that we must learn to adapt, and we must be flexible as nothing ever stays the same – and would we want it to anyway? Change is, in many ways, progress. The quote about how we cannot become who we want if we stay the same comes to mind and is quite apt when discussing our (The Insurance Institute’s) new strategic direction.

For most school-leavers, going to college is the natural next step after the Leaving Cert. However, with the cost of living concerns mounting amongst students and parents, some are questioning whether going to college is an affordable option.
