With only a few weeks left of 2016, what better time is there to reflect on the year that’s been?

1. What is an insurance apprenticeship? (and 8 other FAQs)
The inaugural Insurance Practitioner Apprenticeship programme launched this year, with 67 apprentices starting work and study in insurance organisations nationwide. We created this blog as a snapshot of everything you need to know about the programme including who it’s for, how to apply and an explanation of the overall structure.

As rising motor insurance premiums continued to dominate the insurance headlines in 2016, Richard Brophy of Brophy & Co Insurances analysed the circumstances surrounding this trend in one of our most popular Thinkpiece articles of the year.

The insurance industry has fallen victim to a number of myths over the years, particularly when it comes to careers. This means that many aren't considering it as a legitimate career path – which ultimately results in people missing out on the benefits working in insurance offers.

4. Student Stories
As anyone who has undertaken a qualification will know, studying while working is tough. Our Student Stories series featured insights from two of our staff members who were studying towards their Professional Certificate in Insurance (APA) qualification. They documented their successes, challenges and insider tips across the May to September semester.

5. Women in insurance – Inspiring Leaders
In March of this year we launched our Women in Insurance blog to mark International Women’s Day. We published a series of blog posts, profiling some of the most inspiring women in the Irish insurance industry. The Inspiring Leaders spoke about the benefits of working in insurance, how they rose to their positions and the role mentoring has played in their success.
